The Epistle for May 13th, 2008, is now available. From Pastor Mark’s Epistle:
Dear Friends,
What a marvelous “Two-in-One” Celebration
last Sunday! Pentecost and Mother’s Day
converged beautifully. Many thanks to those who
took care of so many details to make for a memorable
Sunday, especially with regard to music, flowers,
decor and the children’s “descending doves.”
I hope you’ll eagerly hear what Rev. Shirley
Lynn shares from the pulpit this coming Sunday, the
18th. We are so blessed to have her as a continuing
member of the St. Luke’s team.
Meanwhile, Emily and I will be hearing
our daughter Claire Matheny preach at St. Matthew
UMC in Chicago, where she has served for a
year as a Student Associate. We will have been at
the baccalaureate and graduation ceremony of her
graduate school, Garrett Evangelical Seminary, on the
campus of Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
Starting in August, Claire will be a Chaplain
Intern at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.
She will become a fourth-generation United Methodist
minister and, obviously, Emily, and I and all the
family are very proud of her.
Please keep us in prayer for travel mercies
in this long journey. God bless!
