The Epistle for Feb. 26, 2008, is now available. From Pastor Mark’s Epistle:
As our Lenten journey continues, we come to another first-Sunday Communion time at St. Luke’s. This month is special because of the very strong tradition of One Great Hour of Sharing. Place your special gifts at the altar and they will be multiplied all around the world in places where people are most in need.
Meditatively, think of the faces of children you see on posters and television, their eyes often asking, “Is there any hope?” Or, you might think of devoted missionaries like the late Mark Masters, who by the end of his life was helping coordinate our total force of United Methodist servants globally. Another face coming to mind right among us is Elton Watlington, who gave so many good years of service in Peru.
Pause, pray, take stock and give, knowing that you surely are investing in God’s reign “on earth as it is in heaven.”
