The Epistle for Jan. 15, 2008, is now available. From Pastor Mark’s Epistle:
Dear Friends,
January 20 is set aside as Human Relations Day, throughout the United Methodist Church. It coincides with Martin Luther King on the 21st, and is a time to emphasize, “Love thy neighbor as thyself” and God’s call beyond mere tolerance to a vision of the richly diverse human family God created.
Here at St. Luke’s, there are several ways we “get specific” on this theme that you might not know about yet. One is that in partnership with HARC (Highland Area Renewal Corporation) we sponsor an outstanding U of M intern named Shayla Guy. She’s coming to tell about her work this Sunday.
Another blessing of diversity comes through our Ministry of Love, formerly known as “Kingdom Kids.” Thank You to all who make it happen! One other way, again with HARC’s connections, is our support of at-risk youth initiatives through Mason Branch of YMCA.
How is it you are involved in this part of Christian witness? Think of good ways to make your own testimony…
In Service
Pastor Mark
